He's gonna have to wait until spring. That is fucked. Might as well have driven it into a swimming pool full of concrete.

Huh, learn something new every day. If this thing can thaw through a foot of ice per day, that would do it...

It was mentioned in the Pirate4x4 thread. Makes sense from a heat transfer point of view. http://www.groundheaters.com/thawing.htm

Looks like it's used for oil fields, mining, etc.

All road construction doe around here. haha Private/commercial construction keeps going but I don't recall ever seeing them heat the ground with those. (For reference, I live in Idaho, it borders Canada, it's not much different than Canada in the winter. haha)
Yeah, I saw that Pirate4x4 thread mentioned earlier, but like I said above, I haven't seen one around. I wonder how common they are and if they aren't very common it may not be very cheap to rent one for 2-3 consecutive days...

Have a couple of these at work, there even bigger too. They'll heat a house to 90' in a couple hours rent one for a day and make a tent around the truck, easy way to get it out

He's guna break stuff using a cat and digging and trying to pull it out.

I'd expect the GroundHeater to be more common in areas where permafrost and deep frozen puddles can be found. :D

It does seem to be the most effective solution, and may work faster than 1 ft/day for small areas like a vehicle's footprint. (i.e. you place the hoses closer together than shown in the promo pictures).
