*THE RTT Owners Thread (With BS)*

I would like to mount the tent the same height as the cab. I am going to a local shop and is if they will make me a canvas to fit the bed. I have thought about putting it under a soft top shell.

 

Finally got these Blue Sea 12V sockets wired in! Thanks for the input guys, wasn't a hard mod at all, just took 10ga wire to the battery with an inline fuse and grounded them to the frame

 

Got to finally mount and use the RTT this weekend in Anza Borrego.

I use a couple of the big RubberMaid Action Packers. They fit perfect, can be locked for when you are away from the truck, and make great benches to sit on as well.

 

Now I really really want one. Damn you guys!

so u dont put them on a switch? they dont draw any power unless u have something plugged in right??

 

So I can mount an RTT on my cab and it will only overhang 3" front and rear... Do y'all think that will be too much? Does anybody have a pic or username of someone with one mounted on an access cab??

 

The other thing is do I want to be that top heavy....

 

You'll be less top heavy than me, mine is higher plus camtron has his that high and is fine. I feel a bit of sway with the tent on and no sway bar but isn't bad.

Here's an update for those interested in the Tepui stuff. Looks like the Olive Green Ruggedized models are finally happening. As long as the delivery of the material is on time it looks like we should have the first batch mid-to-late May. We will have 15 of each of the Kukenam Ruggedized, Kukenam XL Ruggedized and the Autana Ruggedized in Green as well as a few annexes for the Kukenam and Kukenam XL. Sorry, no green Gran Sabana Ruggedized for now.

I've been wanting an awning for future trips I'm planning, but I don't want to buy an expensive roll out one so i've been looking at other people's awnings they've made out of tarps and adjustable tent poles. I keep a small 4x6 tarp in my truck all the time and while I had my rtt setup I got curious about the span of the rainfly. As luck would have it, it's the same size so all Ihave to get is some tent poles and guylines and I'll be set. I just need it for a bit of shade on sunny days.

I am very interested in RTT's and after looking at them online I have a question for experienced users. Is there any advantage to the 'extendable' (collapsible?) type ladder as found on Tepui-brand RTT's as opposed to the 'folding' type ladders as found on CVT's and others? Is either type lighter, more durable, or in any way more desirable? Thanks in advance for any/all replies!
