Little fun in the Pacific NW mountains

Went for a drive today up in the mountains outside Granite Falls. This video is Barlow Pass, a road connecting Darrington and Mtn. Loop highway. The snow was pretty deep and slushy, which is typical for up here. In the first video the snow is 8" or so deep. Meet the family at the end of the video, we all fit in the access cab.

When we got back up to the parking lot there was a guy in a 3500 Chevy, on terrible tires stuck. Helped him out, the snow was 6" or so and a weird combo of ice and slush on top. He gave me his rope as a thanks, nice tow rope.

Yea it's a cool place even without the snow, worth checking out year round. If anyone is familiar this is the road that the big 4 ice caves are on. Also, when I climb to the top and turn right, the road use to go to the left but now dead ends. That's where you hike into the old ghost town Monte Cristo.
