Hey all, If you have noticed all of my posts on finding trails and being real frustrated, I decided to pack up the taco and head out into the national forest to do some scouting. Wish me luck and hopefully you hear from me later!

Ok i got back a little bit more successful then I expected! First of all it was just me and a passenger so I wasnt going to try and tough things while I was alone. Started off just driving west through the mountains towards the state line. Before we reached the national forest I pulled off on one of those (hard to explain) abandoned fill dirt/dump/ once construction sites. It was a big area cut out from the hillside and what was left was a steep muddy road up the red clay which it handled in 4WL with no problem. Nice start!

Then we hit the highway again and pulled off at a gravel road that went about a half mile towards a pond in the national forest. Disappointingly all the side trails were gated off. So back on the highway through the national forest when a few power line right of ways caught my eye. They were either on national forest or directly adjacent to so I figured I would try my luck. I made some pretty mild areas with no trouble and i figured what the hell, i'll try this part out.

So the path i was trying to follow was a STEEP hill perpundicular off of a dirt road. I overestimated the ability of the stock tires and couldnt make it up. Moreover i got my truck wedged with the rear bump against the road i was trying to exit. i got it free and decided to head back to campus.

I stopped at a BP outside of the forest to restock some smokeless tobacco supplies (I am going to quit, i also got a huge bag of jolly ranchers:)) and asked the clerk if there were any wheelin places. He told me of a few that might beopen so next weekend I might have a better story!

Thanks for reading and sorry I dont have any pics! I brought bage a nice clump of dirt in my tow hitch :D
