Thats what I'd be worried about. Having that weight pulling against plastic threads would be a bad idea. However, if that is the case and if you can reach behind there, you could get a longer bolt with the same thread pitch/count and place a large washer and nut to spread the load.

Beyond that though, I could do the same thing with my Gen1 talegate. I like it.

I don't believe it will be an issue. But we will see. If they pull out I'll just throw longer bolts in with washer and nut.

Here's what I did. Works good and is simple and cheap. Only drawback is that the eye bolts protrude into the bed a little when not in use. If it becomes a problem I might swap in some small d rings.

On the short beds put a 2x6 across the wheel wells. 2 jerry cans fit in between the front of the bed and the 2x6. Worked for me.

Basically like this... but with a 2x6 instead of a ratchet strap and traction boards

Subscribed. I made a two can holder out of some scrap 2x10s I had laying around where the cans sit on their backs but I’m looking for something a little more sturdy and permanent.

I got my cans from here. 4 brand new for $156 shipped. Skip the nozzles and just buy a super siphon.

They also have some mounts that may work and you can tie them into the bed rails.

I taped the nut onto a yard stick and used that to hold it while I got it threaded. Then just pulled it off the yard stick. I used one of those nuts that hinge in the middle. The kind you can push through a hole and they pop out. That made it easy to hold in place while I tightened from the other side.

I popped the bolts out around the storage areas and put little d-rings, and I use a couple of bungies to secure the top and bottom. It's held up surprising well in rough conditions. Doesn't hurt that I generally pack the bed pretty tightly.

Not a great picture, but it's the only one I can find on my phone:

    use riv-nuts.

I think I have like 10 or them in my bed for things like my custom bike rack, and my hi-lift mount.
