Hey there TW, the wife and I are about to hit the TAT in about a month, I was wondering of anyone else on here has done it, and if so what they recommend/ not recommend, tips, or any bit of useful knowledge.. I don't have sliders, but I'm looking to get some, would I even need them?

Things were bringing to the table:
    Tepui RTT
    custom bed rack
6" Rough Country lift, with the rear blocks swapped with leaf springs
    60" Hi lift
    A spare tire (of course)
Plenty of food, water and bare essentials
    4 gallon Rotopax fuel tank
    2 Avec LED pods
    All Pro Offroad sliders

Heres the rig as of yesterday.

Anyone think of anything else we'll need to take?

I may be totally wrong because I have not done the trip but from what I have seen and heard about the TAT all you "need" is a reliable vehicle and a full tank of gas. I am sure there are times of the year when mud tires and recovery gear may be mandatory for sections but I would venture to say a stock 4wd tacoma would tackle 99% of the trip without incident. Camping or hotels and eating is up to your bank account... Good luck with the trip! Take a bunch of pictures for us. My wife and I were going to do it on dual sports a couple years ago but life got in the way.

Heck yea OP! This has been a dream of mine as well! On a Dual Sport and in my truck. In addition to what the others have said, make sure your navigation system, whether it be GPS, Maps, Etc are all up to date and on par. Some roads are consistently changing or being rerouted so good navigation is key. Check out some of the ride reports on ADVrider and Thumpertalk. Sort through by most recent to give you the best idea on which roads or bridges may be out.

Here's a recent report on Expo:

In the front, find your air intake. It's inside the front fender. From the bottom of that to the ground in your front "fording depth". The distance from the new location of your rear diff breather to the ground in your rear fording depth. Actual fording depth is the shortest of the two minus a couple of inches for safety.
