    Hey, that's my radio! :D

I suppose you can tune it to listen on CB (though I've never tried) but that won't help you much for trail rides when you'll inevitably want to talk to those same people, and this unit simply can't do that - it has no capability to transmit on AM.

Really? I definitely misunderstood the product description then :( Know of any radios that would do what I want?

It's not legal to sell one. HAM radios are only legal to sell when limited to transmitting on the HAM licensed bands.

If you go to the dark corners of the Ham internet forums and look for whether/how you can modify a factory unit to do that - well, it's a little like going onto TW and asking:

"Hey, I need more braaaaap. How can I mod my Taco to run 35" tires without a lift by removing my catalytic converters and disabling my seatbelt chimes and airbags?"

    :D

Hahaha. Okay.. I didn't realize how silly that question is. I guess I'll have to stick with dual radios.

The analogy isn't perfect as it's possible for a skilled technician to make that modification. But the sh*t st*rm that gets stirred up when someone asks...
