When you are deflated very low, don't be whipping your truck around! Turning fast may break the tire off the bead/ rim!

Lower pressure (8-10 psi even) and keep momentum up... When you do need to stop, try and be pointing downhill or at least level... don't slam on the brakes... clear away any sand built up, in front of all tires, before you try and drive on.

Honestly, 9 out of every 10 times I see someone get stuck out on the beach, it's because they do something stupid like stop and cut their wheel to turn or something else that would have been avoided with any knowledge.

LED conversion on every accessible bulb, TRD exhaust (dealership threw in for free along with the Blu-Logic).
I have done sugar sand with a 2WD with semi-locking diff and street tires without getting stuck. Trick is to not turn the wheels much, results in them plowing into the sand and spinning the rear tires. My friend actually got his 4WD Ford stuck when he was trying to follow me (he tried to turn too sharp) I pulled him out with a strap and my 2WD.

Sorry for quoting the old post but...

The sand @ Daytona and New Smyrna beach is practically asphalt. Hence why you see camry's and minivans driving all over the beach there.

The sand at the OBX doesn't really pack except for down by the water but even then, then weight of a vehicle will sink really quick unless aired down. Can you drive at the OBX in 2wd....maybe, just don't stop. However go out there on a busy day and you are almost gauranteed to have to stop at some point. 4x4 is a must out there and airing down makes it much much easier.

I still don't understand these people who say "I have driven out there in 2wd....I didn't even need to put it in 4wd" What are you trying to prove? Put it in 4wd and just drive. I go out on the beach to relax...the last thing I want to worry about is having to dig myself out or get a tow.

Just stay above the sand and you'll be okay:

Air your tires down and you should be good. I did that on the beach on the Oregon coast and I was fine. Aired down the rear tires to about 5 lbs, and the front to about 7.5.

    Pic for proof:

If you are worried, go with someone who knows what they are doing. That's what I did. The guy helped me through it all.

Depends on where you live. Beaches where I live this is a common thing, not them getting stuck but the driving of what I would call
    non-approporiate vehicles. They do fine.

Hell a few weekends ago I was on the beach driving a moped or something of the type.

    Did someone say sand?....

No rear locker, stock tires, Auto-LSD, and the truck/bed packed with people so bad you'd think a circus was going to break out in song and dance out of my vehicle. Got lucky, flagged someone on the road about a mile off to help me. He pulled me out with a 1st gen 4wd 4cyl taco. Definition of bad ass.

Let me guess... you didn't let enough air out of your tires? People in the bed would have helped traction and help squash the tires even more.

Enough so that the tires 'float' instead of dig into the sand... in the sand I drive on... under 20 psi in 4WD, and at or just under 10 psi in 2WD.

I have no defense. I never went offroad before, didn't know sand would be an issue, didn't know about airing down the tires, and people in the bed wouldn't have helped because i bottomed out the spare tire into the sand so far the rear wheels free spun in the air when we dug them out to stuff rocks and junk under the tires. You live, you learn, and you buy a Hi-Lift jack, shovels, and buy your buddy with the 4x4 a beer for the next time you go...
