So a buddy of mine and I were have a discussion as to what would be more capable off road, a '97 Lexus LX450 (aka Glorified FJZ80 Land Cruiser) or a newer FJ Cruiser.

Given that each would have a decent off-road tire, what are you thoughts on which would be more capable?

Friend believes that the FJZ80 would be far more capable due to lockers and full-floating solid front and rear axles.

By far the Land Cruiser but most of the LX450,470 are not locker front and rear. I have personally seen them both in action. We have both in my Land Cruiser club.

My '08 FJ came with a rear locker and A-trac. It does just fine off road, but the extra space in the LandCruiser would be a definate bonus.
