who knows, ive tossed the idea of SUA as well as linking it with coil overs off the axle. its not built for racing or desert only so if i can link it with the factory gas tank and get 15" travel id be more than happy. would have to see how a parallel 4 link with panhard would fit up under there tho. wont be for a while if i do anything. Dakars on there now will work for the time being

Be truthfull, did you hang on the bumper first and try to make it flex a little more before the pic?

how do you like the creeper joints on your shackles? I've heard people say they don't work very well but yours look like they do fine. I think my next suspension upgrade will be extended shackles so I can ditch my stock overload spring and keep my ride height. Then I may consider creepers as well if they are worth it.

 

I like them. Just don't get the Trail Gear versions.. I recommend Ballistic. It doesn't totally fix binding between the different leaf attachment points, (you would have to go with creeper joints in the rear and front hangers to completely cure binding--and I think that'd be a bit sketchy on the freeway!) When the leaf springs are articulating, they are being twisted, including that front bushing. So, while creepers in the rear will help binding, it not cure it, since it is basically just revieving some of the twisting in the leaf pack aft of the axle... the pack foward of the axle still twists and fights articulation. Another thing you can do to relieve some binding on the front hanger bushing is to make sure your running cheap, soft, rubber bushings instead of poly. They'll wear out quite a bit faster, and you'll have to keep an eye on them, but if you really want to minimize binding, that's the way to do it imho.

It just sucks since leaf springs are an imperfect suspension set-up in of itself. They very low-maintenance, but won't be able to get it perfect..

Road-effects with just the creepers as the rear hangers are great. The only time I'll remember they're back there is when I go over a large bump with one side... the rear end just wiggles a bit. Since that usually only happens at low speeds like when Im going over a speed bump a little crooked, it's not dangerous at all imo.

I say go for it, but don't expect it to be a magic cure-all.

 

Silas, what's the problem with the TG creeper joints?

 

Tg joints are just a lower quality and wear out to fast. Adam (alove) is switching out for Barnes enduro joints because half of his are worn out already. I think one of the big issues with there joints is there's not enough misalignment for the joint to clear brackets so they hit brackets and tweak the innards.

Ok, sounds good. Main reason for new shackles would be to maintain ride height after removing stock overloads, so i figured i might as well go with creepers when i do.

 

A small stock flex. I know it's not super impressive but it's what I got for now.
