Ya know, that price tag is absolute bullshit, its all just super inflated only because they have it & you want it & all the talk in the world about "well it has this & the internals are titanium dipped in platinum, protected from uranium falls on deaf ears, Ok it'd be just peachy to be able to just peel off another 5 figure build $$$ fund , I KNOW I can pull off a quality build that IS VERY capable for what I do & still be a DD for less than 10K, just gotta keep eyes & ears open & be ready to move on the quality stuff as it comes up... & some here seem to think that its got to be a trail rig that shoots the hammers every day or it's just shit.. I know those who willl doubt, but we'll see, my house is going up for sale in about a month & there'll be some truck MOD money for me, not a huge amount, maybe 5k or 6k & I'll find a way to make it fit & make it work ....very well at that, already know where theres a nice Dana (actually 2) to start with, thinking most of it will be labor cost which I'll do most myself except for some welding , which I have some great skilled peeps for that & we work on the barter system alot

I lost track thousands of dollars ago.
At 9K I don't think it's super inflated Hell my front was about 7K to build myself so with a added cost of labor 9K is not that far off and it's a super 14! That said building a SFA DD the axles don't have that much to do with it, off road is where you want those stout axles. You can run a rebuilt junk yard axle with stock parts and be just fine on the road if set up properly. To build a DD its a lot about your suspension and steering geometry . I daily drive my truck and I've put 20,000+ miles on it after the swap it took a lot of reading and math but it turned out great on and off road. I could of done what I did for 10 or 12K if I went with stock replacement parts but who wants to do that :D.

Talk to me Jerry,, !! I mean seriously what the fuck constitutes that kind of sticker price.. I get that they're trick/upgraded axles, but thats all it is... an axle haha , honestly tho' man I have no intention of hitting dbl blacks anywhere in any OHV,, it would be a waste for me to throw that type of cash at anything used for a DD, if i DID spend anywhere near that amount you can bet that rig would be trailered & dedicated...

Hey I'm no stranger to wrecking yards, you know that, & have no problem at all running junk yard junk on MY junk, for that matter if spending 9k on a fucking axle I'd ditch those pictured above & go get some high pinion Reo water truck axles, now THATS a stout pile of steel & gears & would dwarf those pictured, at least I'd feel like i got some $$$ worth, even if i didn't have the motor to turn them, an exaggeration of course , but you know what i'm getting at..... Yeah, just a capable DD thats as comfortable on road as it would be off road, I just don't see it having to cost that much, hey all i know is i have a budget of 5k-6k & if thats not enough to SAS, to me theres a problem & it wouldn't be from not throwing enough $$$$ at it, no dual case marlins needed here, just solid old school 4x like i had years ago, & yeah it'll take a whilee just to gather all pieces & parts, but this shit is going to happen, it has to, I'm so done with IFS....

Doing all the work yourself on junk yard axles on leafs 5 to 6K can be done. It's not going to be the best ride on the street Id say try to find a hell of a deal on a axle keep the stock rear and link the front with one of these kits http://www.4wheelunderground.com/3-Link-ToyotaAxleSystems.html
