differential guard

got an 08 prerunner. what the most popular/best diff guard out there? went under the truck this morning and it felt like about 1/16" or more was taken out so ya haha

 

ya its amazing to me how little abuse these diffs take. i went offroading in a rocky area once and drove pretty good lines i thought and still little chunks taken out.

 

looking at the picture though doesnt look like it guards to much of the bottom of the diff

 

the bottom of the axle is plenty tough and thick... you would be hard pressed to do anything more than put some scrape marks in it.

trust me..

the vulnerable part of our axles is the actual rear diff cover.. it is really thin and can be dented in easily...

 

thats looks true. i looked at the cover again and its a probably a little deeper than i thought

oh and do the "elocker" guards fit the regular open diff's casing?

 

what would you need an elocker guard for it you dont have an elocker to protect?

 

Cast iron vs stamped steel is no comparison. I could definitely see needing something for these axles off road.

 

i was just asking cause the allpro one states that its for the elocker diff. i think they are different sized diff for both thats why i asked if that would work with my diff.

ahh... i see what you were asking now. not sure but i would suspect it would fit.

 

good observation... yea then i would say it would fit. honestly i dont see any reason it shouldnt. they may be a touch different but not enough to effect that mounting up..
