So I pick up my steel and I ordered 14 gauge wall 1" square and the gave me 1/8' Wall 1" square for the same price. So this thing is going to be heavy as shit but for sure won't ever bend haha

haha I guess not but that stuff weighs a ton. Its come in 20ft sections so I had to have them cut it into 6 10ft sections so it could sorta fit in the bed to get it home haha Damn short beds!

How much would you guess your basket weighs? And do You know what the wall size of your steel was? I'm thinking this stuff maybe to heavy but I'm not sure.

    Thanks :)

Practice man! Lots and lots of practice. Matt has this big book on everything to know about welding. I learned a while ago but Matt gave me some great tips this weekend when he was helping me with the design and building the bottom of mine.

wow alex those welds do look good!

learning to weld was probly one of the most useful things i've learned to do. the other day my dad was doing yard work and the rake broke.....but it was no big deal, he just handed it to me and i welded it back on without hesitation.

If you guys ever get the opportunity to get into welding, take it. basically, it'll save you a lot of money in the long run.... actually not even that, like short-medium run. the savings add up pretty quick.

Well that bed basket makes me jealous / wish I had the skills and equipment! It's like my old job with Tac Gear, wanting the greatest most functional gear like the basket!
