that shizz was FOUL!!!

a hard crust but once you break through it it is just nasty...i was in a friends old yota and we were put on some backroad trails and we broke through some stuff like that in some oil fields...luckily we were going slow and as soon as the front tyres dropped about 2 foot we stopped and got outta there real quick

Open diffs lead to many headaches. Notice the ford had open diffs as well......

I am surprised there wasn't a chain involved somewhere. There was a guy killed a few years ago here in MI by clevis going right through his back window and hitting him in the back of the head because they didn't put something over the strap. Anything from a jacket or a floormat will work. Please remember to do it while doing a recovery. And make sure it is a strap for that and not just a winch extension strap.

I am off my soapbox now.
Good call. I had a shackle come through the rear window one time, fortunately it stopped short of hitting me. It was a sobering wake-up call.

And as for the other comment, at that angle (at the end) it seems like he was trying to get the Jeep out by towing it through the bank, not up it!

Unfortunately some people think that brute force (and a diesel truck) are a suitable substitute for common sense. You could have recovered that vehicle with a truck half that size if you knew what you were doing.

I'm thinking the guy with the small peni...sorry, large truck, wouldn't have wanted to be upstaged by someone in a tow truck! You know, bravado and all that.
