Trail Damage

I noticed that TW had threads for action pics in snow/mud, flexing, and stuck Taco pics, but not any ones showing trail damage.

I know Toyotas are pretty much impervious to any damage...but stuff happens sometimes.

This is the result of my idiocy last night:

Hit a rock almost twice the size of my head going 25+ mph.

Lessons learned:
1. Take it slow when it's pitch black out
2. Install some driving lights, they'll save your ass sometimes
3. Make sure everything's torqued down before you go wheeling

Had to limp it home at 20 mph, steering wheel nearly at a 90 degree angle to keep the truck driving straight.

The guy I bought it from put in Alcan Add-a-Leafs...but I don't think he torqued the bolts on tight.

Looks like i just need to jack it up, loosen up the bolts, reset the leaf pack, and tighten it up to the right torque.

I'm going to take it in to see if nothing else is wrong, though.

It's rubbing like hell on the wheel well, a very excruciating sound going down the hill for 10 minutes in the dirt.

So far my only trail damage is merely trail pin stripes, if you can even consider that damage... Stock TRD skid plate also is banged up but its also about as strong as the coke can sitting on my desk... Once I get a lift and some armor I'm sure I'll get some damage as I'll actually be wheeling it aside from dirt roads and a little mudding

The vast majority of the trip 'back' was pretty mild... fun doing some moderate speed whoops in reverse! The scariest part was the mile or so on the highway! All I could think was I won't even see the Highway Patrol if they try to pull me over. Maybe I should do a write up on a rear view mirror on the back window! The secret was to change shoulders (look over the left shoulder then look over the right shoulder)!

Looks like you might have found another use for a backup camera

The only damage I have is some gnarly scratches on the underside of my bumper. I have a small scratch on the back of the bumper, too.

Time to paint it!

I also bent my driver's side spindle two weeks ago, it has since been fixed and gusseted.
