Don't let this happen to your Toy like I did mine . I did this yesterday at Corral Canyon in San Diego battling the absolute worse clay slip & slide shit I've ever encountered, we were sliding around so much going up a telephone pole access trail, it was like the Bronco peak connector without the boulders except for the one that re-engineered my body style. So get'em now or cry later.......:eek::eek:

FYI If you turn in an insurance claim don't volunteer the fact you where wheeling. Insurance companies don't owe when someone is off-roading and or racing..

Sliders are worth it...cause two trucks were damaged like this because mother nature was not good to us this weekend. I am saving...but with the suspension, it might take a while...but I will stay away from the mud for now.

Aww hell no , I wouldn't even file a claim for this , I figure

theres $ 1500-$2000 worth of damage maybe a little more but $500 deductable & besides I do sheetmetal for a living & I've got a guy that welds like Picasso fucking painted , make a template & pattern from the otherside & reverse it. cut out the bad shit (that would be the bottom cab area because of multiple layers of joining metal seams )& start knocking shit back together, the front of the bed can be pulled & rolled out pretty easy (single wall)......

Doug, Sorry about your truck man. I read about your epic adventure at Corral Canyon. That was one heck of a day to be wheeling!

I know there are a lot of reputable sources for sliders. If you're interested I went with Stubbs Welding HD-SKO slider. And I have been a very happy customer. As a matter of fact, the sliders were my first true mod.

No prob, my turn to be a smart ass, have you ever seen a Picasso ? If you have or if you do, look at the contrasting colors & shapes & the seams where they meet, they are linear & they are flawless just like my buddy's welding he specializes in stainless & Aluminum. Mig,Tig,Stick, Plasma & I do sheetmetal & the $$$$ I came up with is what a body shop would charge so why would I even bother with all that shit when I have the resources & the expertise to do it myself ???......

i had an s10 i smacked a tree with. did 2900 in damage. i went to the local body supplier and got capa hood and right fender and radiator support, and bumper. got a new grill and headlight from the junkyard. Parts cost me about 550 and i painted it myself ($100). (i paint)
insurance cut me a check for 2400 bucks and i fixed it for 650. the rest went into new cams, exhaust, and dyno tuning on the hayabusa :D

haha..i'm always preaching about sliders here..it really should be the first mod if you are planning on being on the trails...

i didnt have sliders on my first run ever in my new taco...bashed the whole passenger side from front to back..had to force the rear passenger door open and i ended up using a BFH and a small piece of a 2x4 to pound everything back in place..

you can see some of the damage in this pic, sliders were installed after the fact:rolleyes:
    DSC_3903_0a5783d431982e7db597be230948018b7e5f118a.jpg

consider getting a pair of sliders that incorperates a kick-out design such as the All Pro sliders..the kick-out come real handy in keeping the back half away from the rocks. also helps when cutting a sharp turn on the trail..you can actually use the kick-out to literally pivot your junk around

if i had a slider with the kick-outs at the time this damage wouldnt have happend!!
    PICT0361-1_c5ec39e0f8121dd02cfdda8b4ceb22471bf9ee87.jpg

little side note...i have a pair of Demello Hybrid bolt-on sliders with all the hardware for sale for a DC shortbed..no dents, just need to be touched up. 300 bucks, local to SoCal only..paid 600 for em, i have the reciept to show haha
