dupli-color makes an under carriage coating that i used. works great and looks better then just flat black. it a little like rhino liner but not quite as much texture.

Reviving this thread. Just bought some cali raised sliders. I was thinking about painting them with rust oleum flat protective enamel. I use that to touch up my Hi-line bumper. Anyone got any preferences or opinions on paint?

Yes, read the thread, it’s only two pages and there’s plenty of suggestions. Mine is pick one and keep spraying, they’re called rock sliders for a reason. Peeling is caused by lack of prep/dirty/oily surface.

Yeah I read the thread .. it’s 11 years old. Seeing if there’s more recent suggestions and opinions.

I read many threads on paint for sliders and decided on this. I haven't painted them yet but will soon. I'm spraying a layer of bed liner on the top of the outside bar for foot traction after painting. This is pricey rattle can paint at $4.50 a can but came highly recommended.20210307_133532.jpg

Read it to and see nothing new. Paint chips, that’s why they put wear patches on exposed spots of the truck.

Cool, I’m know it’s going to chip and wear. I had rock sliders on my 04. Just seeing what people have done recently that’s all.

I do like the idea of some 3M Tape where you step on it or kick it to knock the crap off your boots.

I did my sliders recently. I scrubbed them with acetone and a scotch-brite maroon pad. Then primer (2 good layers) with Rustoleum self etching primer. Finished with about 4-5 layers of Herculiner spray on bed liner(Menards). Looks great so far and holding up fine to foot traffic. Only time will tell to the durability but touching up should be easy.

Yah I’m just looking for a solid base. Definitely expecting to touch up. Thanks for the advice!

I've been using just some basic flat black high temp BBQ paint on my sliders and my front bumper.

It's relatively durable, and easy to just touch up if needed.

I don't necessarily like using bed liner or powder coating for the stuff that's designed to hit rocks, since it WILL scratch off. rattle cans are super easy to patch. Maybe just a scotch pad or sandpaper and a quick spritz with the rattle can.

For sliders, maybe painting the upper part with bedliner, and the lower bits with a rattle can. That way, the parts you tend to step on will be more durable, while leaving the parts that are likely to get bashed against rocks is still easy to patch...

I ended up doing rustoleum... self etching primer and then black bed liner. I like how it came out and feels pretty solid.
