2wd capabilities

trust me im all for it, i finally told my parents and they think its a good idea, so should i just call the dealership or just show up?

 

i would show up at the dealer,tsb in hand, and tell them you are tired of the truck bottoming out everytime you put a load in it, and if they wanna argue or whatever, pull out the tsb and show them.............then its kinda hard for them to deny you the work. hell.....tell them you loaded it with 600lbs of concrete and it bottomed out.

you may not have any problems whatsoever though. may be a piece of cake.

 

that is a well thought out plan. you must have given tons of advice to people. and your right they would have a tough time saying no. idk if you saw this in the earlier parts of this thread but at my dealership we have people specifically assigned to take care of our vehicles, and the guy who takes care of my truck has a taco so if i tell him this then he may want to get his done and he may be nice and just go on and do it

yeah lets hope, i got another question, so toyota already knows about the not so good leaf springs and they still put them in? (i know i sound like an idiot)

 

nah...you dont sound like an idiot.

toyota still puts them in, cause alotta people that buy trucks dont really use them as trucks, and still want a car like ride. thats the jist of it basically. the tsb basically lets people who use their trucks to haul stuff, like a ruck should be, have the firmer ride and more payload capacity than with the regular springs. i aint real good at explaining things, but thats basically it.

 

yeah but i probably sound clueless. i have heard that once you get the tsb done your truck is at an angle where the headlights have to be adjusted, is that true?

 

nah.....my headlights are fine, no adjustment needed. and the angle,or rake, isnt bad at all. in my opinion....looks cool that way. but like i said, not bad at all. and if it happened that you wanted the front level....get spacers or bilstein 5100's for the front to level it.

dont look at it as sounding clueless man....look at it as better educating yourself about your truck!!

The TSB gave me 1 1/2 inch of rear lift.



Not to mention the truck feels a lot more firm on the road. Drives better. I had about 1700lbs of gravel in my bed about three weeks ago and it didn't bottom out once.

ok ok, im too lazy for this search button and grooming pages of junk or starting a new thread...does the TSB apply to the 5luggers??? its a spring under axle and we dont plan on haulin much, plus the readylift kit coming out's gunna add a leaf for arch anyway...but hey free spring to the rear and it wont bottom out in the future then if it does

 

nope.....5 lugger not included. tsb is only for the prerunner/4x4 and sr5 trucks.

 

your 2wd will make it a lot more place than you think. you just need to start off small and figure out how to really work the truck in different conditions. I have a 2wd pre runner sport that is constantly on the beach and running trails. it wasnt so nice with the stock tires but when i replaced them with my 265/70/17 terra grapplers it made a big difference. just test it out, just go with someone who can pull you out, just in case.
