It's all about liability and insurance.

Keeping it a private invitation is far better off - from an insurance & liability aspect - then letting everyone in.

If someone gets hurt on your land - you can be sued and/or blamed even if you've given them permission to be there. You're not paying any extra insurance to cover people that get hurt.

thats y you haved to sign the wavier beforehand when/if you wheel at the jeep jamboree in palo duro canyon.. we put on a few rockcrawls at the other location (went well) but part of it is public land and some is state.. the state wanted a 1million dollar insurance and we couldn't spring it. so we held it on the public side and had proper forms to fill out. and required helmets and vehicle specs that we inforced hard

Waivers don't always cut it - because some lawyer somewhere would find ways around them.

Jeep Jamborees are insured - and aside from that - backed by Chrysler/JEEP. So, they have money to throw at a lawsuit if it ever happened.

Someone who owns an area of land soley to himself....you can't blame them for not inviting the public to wheel on his/her property. Without insurance ($$$) for allowing those type of activies..... if the landowner ever got sued, he'd lose everything, house, car, lands, etc.

the waviers were legalized.. ie looked over by profesionals (lawyers etc) and corrected of any foreseen loopholes.
