Carrizo Basin

Just returned from a couple days at Carrizo Basin. Not really a lot of wheeling but lots of pipeline roads and some cool trails that go up into the short canyons. Weather was Great! and the flowers are so bright in some areas it almost hurts your eyes. Had a great time and it was really relaxing!
I think the bloom will last for another week or so depending on if the rain were suppose to get is mild or heavy. If you want to see the bloom you can still make it.

Yes, west of Taft and Maricopa. Right in the San Andreas fault.

 

Yeah its a neat place, lots of interesting evidence of some major earth movement over the years. Apparently that plain is one of only a few that doesn't drain to the pacific, it all ends up at Soda Lake. Driving around in the Temblor range kind of makes you feel like your on some other planet.
