The Camping Trail from Hell

So this trail is up in Dorrington CA, which is about 30 min north of Angels Camp. This trail is bad a$$ but every time we go someone breaks something no matter if it is just driving to the trail and back but also on the trail.

2006 Trip - My Dodge rear driveshaft breaks in half on rock, i had to leave in on the trail for about 7 days, we finally get a new axle and on the way back to the trail my buddies accord overheats and it takes us 3 more hours then expected to get there.
- My buddies chevy bends his tie rod so bad he can only drive 5-10 mph

6/4/10 Trip - With my 08 taco I bend the front driver Sway bar bracket, my buddies being dumb in the bed pull my rack backwards and dent both sides of my roof, and the last run back down the trail I take a weird line and i dent my bumper and the tailight breaks off AND i scraped my new fender flares on a rock.
- My buddy drives his 10'' lifted ford diesel up the trail and down clearing everything but on the way home his car over heats and his EGR goes out and well over $3,000 in damage.

This trail is bad a$$ the camping spot is unreal but i will never be going back.

Sounds like an expensive trail. Do some hippy voodoo offerings next time you hit that trail... moondance or something; maybe dump a 40 out at the trail head.

Get some more pics of those fenders too.

hahahah SWEET! I'd love to try my Chevy through there. Don't you know by now sway bars belong on the street and have no place off road. Nice pics man!

Here's how I look at it, if I have to slow down a little on the street and drive normal, it's worth it when I hit the trail and those extra inches of articulation makes the difference of me outdoing my friend and him owing me a beer! haha. My truck has leafs in the front and I can use adjustable shocks too so it may be a bit different, but if it were me, I'd try it w/o it and see how it is for daily driving. I learned long ago, driving fast (or like most people) on the streets only wears the off road tires out quicker anyway, so I don't care who I hold up on the road in my 4x4.
