I think it is, but very expensive. Go ARB or something like that.

Depends on where you get it done.
The cost of the ARB is probably around $600-700+ no including labor. An ARB is a 'carrier replacement' which will involve needing to buy new gears, gearing install, locker install, airline/tubing/install, air compressor & install, etc.

It's highly involved setup. If you want to change gears, now is the time to do it.

I had two ARB's installed on my previously owned JEEP -We purchased the ARBS for $650 or so each. We payed $1200 additional for: two ARB installations, 4.56 gears & setup for both axles, seals & new bearings for both axles, airlines & one arb compressor & installation. Not bad.... The ARB's are frigin AWESOME!

On the ARB website lockers are right at $1000. Plus installation and on-board air and all the other little things you will need.

Damn, their prices went sky high since I bought them 7 years ago.

Cost of ARB = $1000
ARB install = extra
Gears = extra
Gear setup = extra
Compressor & installation = extra
Seals & maybe bearings = extra

And that's only for ONE locker!

I was wondering how hard it is to install one yourself?

It's a PRECISION process with precision tools. To install an ARB involves removing carrier and doing a gear setup. The install of the ARB is probably the easy part, it's the GEAR setup that's hard. Gears have to mesh properly and you need to shim the pinion gear to match up with the ring gear in near perfect mesh. If you don't shim them properly, you could destroy them (and the ARB) in due time.

Do some research on google. I'm sure someone has information about what's involved. It can be done - but its definately not something you can slap together in your backyard.
