Dual Sided DVDs...WTF?

Is there a standard for the dual sided Widescreen/Standard DVDs? These things make me mad at dumb people, seriously.

When I see "Widescreen" printed on one side, I put that side facing down because I know the laser reads from the bottom. Most of the time I get the standard size movie.

It bugs the shit out of me because this makes no sense to me but I know that there are gobs of people that happily set Widescreen facing up and they get what they want.

...and to get this out of the way..."Jeezus man there are starving children in [country] that would love to have to figure out which way to flip their DVD"

Because that's how every label on a DVD works.

You throw the single sided "Debbie Does Dallas" on the tray with the side the says "Debbie Does Dallas" facing you. With a double sided, it's the same thing, without the ginormous label.

Sorry is be all serious....

 

To me it wouldn't make sense to have the side you want facing down. Just as you wouldn't but a one sided dvd in with picture face down.

 

Ahhhhhh ha! Lol ok...well shit, it finally makes sense to me now. Someone just had to relate it to porn, thats all.

 

LOL!!! I used to get confused sometimes to when they first came out!!! Its just one of those things that bug the shit out of people!!!

 

What kind of movies are you watching? Most dvds nowadays are either strictly 16:9 or the more and more popular 2.35:1.

I didn't even think there were people or places that had screens that catered to the 4:3 format.

 

I found The Neverending Story at Ross for $4 and watched it last night. A nice shot back to my childhood

 

I gotta find the 2nd one. All I remember was that the kid could make wishes in exchange for his memories or something like that. His memories were big marbles that went down a machine.

I rock 80's movies. Tango & Cash is another two sided DVD that gets is share of play time.
