according to the story it sounds like the community rallied and stuck up for the little girl.

It also says state law is that you need a permit even in front of your house... what the hell happened to america this is too much...

It makes sense since she was at the fair. Everyone else there probably had a license...
You don't go to a big event like that and peddle stuff.

Any other weekend there wouldn't be a problem doing it in front of her house b/c there won't be an inspector wandering around your neighborhood.

agreed....it even states that in the article....

Turns out that kids' lemonade stands - those constants of summertime - are supposed to get a permit in Oregon, particularly at big events that happen to be patrolled regularly by county health inspectors.

even if i paid $500 for a permit to sell hot dogs or hamburgers i wouldnt begrudge a 7yr old selling lemonade for 50c a glass... even if she didnt fork over the 120$ permit. shes 7. she would have to sell 240 glasses just to pay for the permit and then more to actually make a profit...

Does it suck? Yes. But rules is rules especially if there's people that are there as a source of actual income. Definetly sad however.

FWIW you dont need a permit to sell drinks in communist vietnam... pretty sad the US is becoming this heavily regulated....

you assume a risk when buying street vendor food. Why is the gov allowed to control it? dont eat there if your scared. the permit is B/S it doesnt guarantee the food is safe. Its another way for the gov to snick their nose where it doesnt belong...

ummm the gov shut down a lemonade stand.... i thought it was politics. the fact is that the gov is so over the top... tax dollars going to pay inspectors who shut down our kids lemonade stands...

when people just sit back and dont do anything or say anything its pathetic.

i'm talking about the direct calling out of parties involved in a post that was deleted. the fact that a kid was shut down for not getting a permit to sell food in an area that was being observed by the health department shows lack of thought by the fair as well as the kids parents. every fair i've been to, people have had to register w/ the fair and get their permits. make one exception you have to make them all. less and less about politics. if you want it to be about politics, it can be closed for not adhering to site rules. a civil conversation can be made about this w/o dragging the political machine into it

I say we round all the little kids up who are screwing the taxpayers by not paying taxes on their lemonade stands and shoot them.....hell there is at least one of us who wouldn't defend against that action!
