That's because there are people who raise their babies on that shit, and we all pay for their poor choices. Ask any teacher.

I hate seeing kids like this. I may be fat now, but thats because I buy my own food and make my own decisions. When I was a kid, I was skinny as a rail and would play OUTSIDE all day long. My parents cooked food and made me eat VEGETABLES. A lot of parents now raise their kids on fast food crap. I can't stand it. When I was a kid, we got McD's once or twice a month. No kid, unless they have some medical condition, should be this over weight.

Parents are allowing their young children to drink coffee and tea, which is loaded with caffeine, with lots of sugar. They are already bouncing off the walls with their "youthful" enthusiasm, and here they are, contributing to their energy. It's no wonder some teachers, including me, have such a hard time keeping their kids in their seats, let alone quiet. At least the 7Up is supposed to be caffeine free, but that doesn't mean they don't have some other mild stimulant in it. I know as a kid, my parents wouldn't let me drink coffee. I could have tea, but since neither my mom, nor dad drank tea, jI was stuck with cool-aid, milk, or water. Couldn't afford soda very often.

Everyone's arriving at the same point - when we were all kids, sodas and fast food were treats, had once or twice a month. Now, it's daily (sometimes more than once) for many children. If you think we're fat now, just wait 10 years.
