So what's wrong with a money order? As long as it cashes out, right?

Money Orders can be cancelled as easy as a check now a days, evn after you cash it, then you end up owing the bank you cashed it at.

Still not sure. Someone had to pay to buy the money order. So if i cash the money order, how can they cancel it? For instance: I get a money order for $1000. I have to pay cash $1000 and wherever they charge for the money order. It's not like you can write a check for a money order. That money order in essence becomes the cash.
so when i cash it, regardless if the person stops payment of it, if its cashed that's on the other party correct?
so if i receive a money order and cash it, how long do i have to wait to see if a person is going to cancel it? Indefinatly? Or shall i say how long should i wait to turn the item over to a person that has purchased something from me with a money order?

That's a standard text for a scam letter. IF you were to actually receive the money order it would be counterfeit, and your bank wouldn't know until it went through the electronic cycle. By that time you've already shipped.

    OK. Here's the deal.
I spoke with my credit union today. I have dealt with them on a personal level for close to 10 yrs.
Yes, a money order can be cancelled just like a check and is preferred by scammers because of the inability to trace easily. "IF" it has not been cashed.
If the money order has been cashed, the buyer can do NOTHING. They cannot put a stop on it, they cannot cancel it, they cannot do anything in regards to that money order AFTER it has been cashed. Not "Deposited", but CASHED.
Call your bank and ask them. Once the money order is cashed, it's a done deal my friend. Period.

If you really want to try this then give him your address and let him know they'll be a 10 day hold on the money order, which will be cashed immediately. If you get a ok to that then do it.
Businesses pay people to collect emails with names and addresses for many reasons. Your buyer sure sounds like one of these.

did you take the email traffic to your credit union and show them? I willing to bed they will tell you this is a scam. Dont let us talk you out of it though...seems like you have your mind set on getting ripped off...
