This got me thinking

Ok so i passed one of those radar things that read your MPH today and it got me thinking.[ "may sound like complete idiot" ] but it said on the speed O that i was going 40 and it said i was going 44 on the radar. So if it says im going more MPH than i really am, does that mean that there is less miles on the truck than what the trip says? hmmmm..idk just a question.

There are similar posts on here about your speed-o being off. It's theoretically within allowable limits though because I actually brought it up in my Gen-2 under warranty. I have heard of class action suits (not necessarily for tacomas) in the past where warranties were extended due to incorrect odometers due to incorrect mph...but I've read on here that our odometer data reading is not affected, so that's not a problem.

yeah i just was curious. like i said its just about 3-4 mph off but idk how much that would even effect the actuall miles on the trip. (if it did) just seems kinda unfair if you wanted to sell your truck and it says you have 180,000 when you may really only have 160,00 (just a guess) but i dont plan on selling so its no big deal.

Mark off exactly 1 mile. Set your trip meter to 0 and drive...That way you will know how far you drove. Do this 4 or 5 times to get an accurate reading.

The mile markers on the highway work for this to give you a rough estimate. Just stay in the same lane. They have 1/10 mile markers also, at least they do up here.
