nice little earthquake we just had

Damn, I'm glad I don't have to worry about earthquakes anymore. I hope everyone is fine.

That was a freaking STRONG earthquake.

I might add: My t-mobile cell phone service got knocked out and my home phone is knocked out

 

Damn it, i hate earthquakes, i was in mexico city one time in the 14th floor of an old building when a little one happened, i almost shit in my pants..... hope everything is ok up there...

 

yahh i must sayy it was pretty strong. i started to see stuff shake. hope everyone is alright!!

 

yup i felt it shook my office computer and walls were shaking and i thought man im really tired or that was an earthquake hope all is well guys!!

 

Strong Earthquake Rattles Los Angeles
LOS ANGELES (AP) ― A strong earthquake shook Southern California on Tuesday, causing buildings to sway and triggering some precautionary evacuations. No immediate damage was reported.

The jolt was felt from Los Angeles to San Diego, and slightly in Las Vegas.

Preliminary information from the U.S. Geological Survey estimated the quake at magnitude 5.8, centered 29 miles east-southeast of downtown Los Angeles near Chino Hills in San Bernardino County.

Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman Brian Humphrey said there were no immediate reports of damage or injury in Los Angeles. San Bernardino County fire dispatch also had no immediate reports of damage.

The quake struck at 11:42 a.m. PDT. Buildings swayed in downtown Los Angeles for several seconds.

Workers quickly evacuated some office buildings.

"It was dramatic. The whole building moved and it lasted for a while," said Los Angeles County sheriff's spokesman Steve Whitmore, who was in the sheriff's suburban Monterey Park headquarters east of Los Angeles.

 

yea we were evacuated... just another quake to add to the books, after surviving the northridge quake only 8 miles from the epicenter made this one feel like a breeze muauahahah quakes can be fun!

Lasted a good 30 seconds for me. Was playing with my son in the family room and the whole room started shaking.

Felt it down here in Point Loma.

 

Felt it here in North San Diego. Guess I missed this thread, and posted one for myself.

Weird how quakes work, though. I felt it for a split second, and then that was it (might be due to my being immune to them). My grandmother, however, who lives less than 3 miles away, said she felt it rolling, for at least a minute.

Oh, and it's been reported that there's been a series of 26 aftershocks - the biggest being 3.6. USGS also just downgraded it from a 5.8 to a 5.4.

 

i am in downtown san diego on a fourth floor, and i did not feel a thing...

 

that was fun!

I've lived in socal (Irvine) for 12 years, that was the first good earthquake I've experienced. Lasted quite a while too! There was a small aftershock...I was hoping for another good one, lol.

 

we dont really have to worry about anything like that here!! hope everything is ok over there!!

 

I've been through fires and earthquakes. For me personally, I've had worse experiences with the fires, rather than the earthquakes. I've lived in southern California all my life (16 years), and truthfully, I've never even felt an earthquake. I didn't even feel the one earlier today. Fires though... meh. Almost lost my house last October, and I'm sure as hell not looking forward to this October.

I still say though, I'm content with fire and earthquakes. I definitely know I'd rather have those than tornados and hurricanes.

yeah man..........i have seen the whole deal with fire out ya'lls way.........that really sucks!!! and yeah, we have our share of hurricanes and tornados(and lots of tornados here recently), and we have been fortunate!!

 

Yeah I'm OK, I was in socal getting a hummer when this happened. It's the only way to get a hummer.
