Talking about earnings without taking into account any other figures is meaningless. Exxon-Mobil is the largest corporation in the world. While those earnings sound outrageous, their profit margin is around 11%, which is about average (IBM has the same profit margin). They make a lot of money in revenue because they're a huge company. Microsoft's profit margin is around 30%. Apple is about 15%.

I know that. I listen to Rush Limbaugh too. But I can't explain why gas is so high and no one else can either. In such a case, you can always point the blame at THE MAN.

I have a hard time believing current prices are justified while hearing stories of record profits too. Obviously I don't know their operating, salary or benefits costs, but I can't help thinking record high prices are what's driving record profits.

Hearing things like Mobil giving out a $45million bonus to a high level executive for retirement doesn't help either. I can't help but think how much that money alone would've dropped gas prices if they'd kept the money or given him a smaller one.

Im thinking about buying a few gas cans and having them to put in before it goes back up! Is that good to store gas, or is it bad for the gas??

Gas can go bad. If you do this, use Stabil addative in it.

my brother is up in alaska and has been for the whole summer. he's got a summer job up there between semesters. he's making $15 bucks an hour and i was like "wow, thats pretty good for a summer job when you're a student" but apparently its not. he says the cost of living up there is rediculous. it's like living in an upscale part of new york, except you have to run from bears....
