I'll give you my favorite name. Fluid Motion

It was my other choice when I was choosing a name for Slow Dance. I gave Nancy the final say.

Unlike power boats, sail boats are things of nature and have souls/spirits/feelings so picking the right name is important and not to be taken lightly. More often than not a sailboat will identify with and act according to it's name.

It's also important to properly beseech the blessings of the gods of water and wind when naming the boat. Every boat that I know of that has not done this has had something happen to it.... DON"T @#$% WITH TRADITIONS!! I'll find the guide for the naming ceremony and post it soon.

ok, like most of your postings, i have no idea what you're talking about. you'll have to fill me in. if the boat is telling me what to name it then i will call it "driftwood" since the fist time we went out there was no wind and we were forced touse the motor for most of the day. feel free to post as much advice as you feel like typing...

You could possibly decide a name after you get a feel for the boat or you can choose a name that embodies what you want or hope the boat to be.

Either way this here's the best write up of the name changing ceremony that I know of. If the boat has never been named before you can skip the name purging part of the ceremony.

I'll bet that guy who lost his boat and his son didn't do the ceremony.

As I said. EVERY sailboat that I know of that wasn't properly named has had something bad happen to it. Lightning, running aground, unexplained engine failures, demastings, sinking, getting hit by powerboats. I'm not superstitious. My rational side says it can't possibly make a difference, but I've seen it happen too consistently for it to just be coincidence.

    Name the boat Shark Bait.

The trick to making it work is to get everyone on the boat to go "Hoo Haa Haa" every time the name is said. :p

You'll probably get away with it (Use good beer, not some 30 pack swill). I think intent to render honor is more important than price tag. Figuring the old gods were around LONG before the french invented champagne, I brewed a batch of mead to use to name Slow Dance. I swear that for months afterward there was a several mile radius around the boat that did not get any storms.
