when I lived in AK my in-laws had a Cessna 177B. I got to make the call to the tower and take the wheel a few times once we were in the air. I suck at taxiing though
Never got around to having any proper lessons. If I would have stayed up there I would have gotten my PPL a long time ago. Too damn expense down here :(

    I paid my own way.

Now when I have the time to fly, don't have the money.

When I have the money, don't have the time......

I do really love being around aviation and would love to live on one of those live on airport neighborhoods someday.

LMAO----was their ever a time that you went flying that you didn't land, walk away and say "I didn't learn anything?" I honestly believe that is what makes aviation the draw that it is. Everytime you fly you learn....everytime!!!!! I've done for 33 years and 3800 hours in both fix wing and helicopters and I got to tell you it was a joy every minute of every hour....

Powered by one tailgate mounted CFM56–7 engine. The engine is a dual–rotor, axial–flow turbofan engine capable of producing 27,000lbs of thrust. Why yes, my tailgate is slightly bowed in.
Currently fly the ATR72-212 and -212A for a part 121 carrier. Prior aircraft was Saab SF340B.

Drive carefully on the way to the airport then back home after the trip. The 5 hour flight will be the safest part.

If you have your pilots certificate and find that flying is too expensive, check out your local Civil Air Patrol unit........air time, free gas, great training and you get to give back to the community.

If you need to update or get your certificate, CAP has programs that can assist and it will be a lot less expensive.

CAP also has gliders for those that want to try flying without that pesky propeller......can get licensed in a glider through the program.

    Check it out:

Im an A&P and the first thing that came to mind was a joke we tell all the time.

"how do you know if there is a pilot in the (room)forum?"

    "he will tell you"

Bump! Just had my last flight in the T-6 Texan II. My instructor took a great picture of me during my formation solo. Gonna miss it. Find out this afternoon what I will be flying next.

That's a great training jet. In addition to flying real aircraft, I fly actual turbine remote control models (a couple of other members here do too).

There is a turbine model T-45 of mine in my gallery... among my other jets.
