oil change question

    port and polish intake manifold, supercharger, pulley for charger, lifted, tires, deckplate, (doing full engine build)
    ok so im a porter at a dealership. trying to move up to lube tech.

    boss askes me....
    what are the two most important things to do during an oil change.

    i said. drain and fill.
    tighten drain plug and filter

    none of these seem to be right for him.

    so give me your best shot please.

    Not drain the tranny instead of the oil and then put the tranny coolant into the radiator cuz you matched the colors :D :D

    beat me to it!

    I would say make sure the filter and drain plug are tight and the oil is not under/over filled

    I figured engine off is kinda obvious... but i guess its important

    I agree with Chris...my boyfriend works in a dealership, I've heard some stories of vehs 'falling' off the lifts. Those 2 things ^^ are very important.

    I also think your boss was looking for the not so obvious answer, which is the one you gave.

    you missed it...

    1) inspect vehicle
    2) upsell wiper blades, muffler bearings, blinker fluid, tire rotation, brake jobs, shocks, struts, rings and bearings, and those $200 fluid changeouts...
