When you have a trans go out at 14k, after you'd taken it in under warranty and they said it was "ok", and then 2 months after the coverage is over it fails, and ford won't cover it, then you swear off any more fords.
And yes, my complaint went up the chain, bottom line-out of warranty.

I agree the 7.3 was a beast, We have one at home that we just use on the weekend for pulling a horse trailer. Its a 2000 or a 2001 (cant remember) and never had any serious problems with it at all.

My 3.0 Ford Ranger threw a rod bearing at 17k miles and broke down three times before 30k. Why do I hate ford? Well there ya go. Note all maint was done on the spot and overkill as usual.

The 6.7 is a beast. Really nice to drive, I have nothing but good things to say about them.

I dislike Ford because of their past. They kept building killboxes and selling them to the public. New Ford is doing some really great stuff and I quite like it, but that shadow is hard to shake.

I sorta have a soft spot for ford , but here are the betrayals:

95 bronco , shimmy/hesitating undiagnosed constantly , the found i had 31x 10.5 tires and blamed them.... until i told them its the same size as 265/75 r 15( factory option) ....derrr.

Our fleet fords are the worst , loss of dash power on several ,and if one ever rolled theyre known for roof collpases(older 3/4 tons)

nastiest bench seat since splintered, logs

shop gripes about the spark plugs stripping on some pickups

our newest diesel one, 2-3 yr old had the engine replaced, dont recall why.

I don't hate Ford, but I sure don't trust them and will not be buying any of their products in the future.

I had a '95 Explorer which was as close to perfect as you can get. Bought an '08 Explorer and it was the biggest piece of junk excuse for a vehicle I've ever owned.

My biggest complaint was the transmission. Crusing at 70mph the transmission would slip. You could feel it, hear it, and see it on the tach. Ford didn't care. They would never address the complaint. They always changed the subject, talked about how nice it rode, etc.

I got fed up with them and traded it for an '09 4Runner and couldn't be happier. So happy that 6 months later I sold my Ford pickup and bought a '10 Tacoma.

I'd purchased 6 new Fords thru the years, and that '08 was the last.....adios Ford.

(I hope some of those clowns at Ford are reading this)

I'll do it. I hate Ford. Junk. Junk. Junk. (not more than Chrysler though, their #1 in the Junk dept)

Working as a Tech at a shop...

-Terribly engineered with bad parts. I have never seen one brand of car be so damn prone to breaking front or rear coil springs as Ford. Got a Taurus? Got a Escort? Your coil springs WILL break and if your lucky if you don't pop your tire. Their suspensions are horrible overall, Ford rattles, clunks, and bumps around more than most cars I've driven.

Everyone knows about the spark plug issues with the trucks, the porcelin will break off requiring a special kit or/and the plugs will blow out of the head (cause it ain't thick enough to take the pressure = hardcore design fail). Ford had to increase a warranty to 120K to cover leaking fuel injectors on their newer (05ish) trucks.

-No room to work on a damn thing, on any of their vehicles. (I love my 4 banger Tacoma, I could crawl under the hood, you could shut the hood and I would still have room to work)

-The Ford Transit. A vehicle ment to haul large amounts of weight...SITTING ON A FORD FOCUS FRAME. Same suspension, same braking system, SAME TINY 2.0L MOTOR. Had a guy with a Transit whose brakes started grinding at 25K b/c of the horrible design of this vehicle. I'm not super hip on their real new stuff, but if they put the same thought into their other vehicles as they did the transit, I couldn't run fast enough the other way.

-I think they age badly on the interior.

-I hate the noises they make. You cannot turn the key off, shut the door with the window down and leave the key in the ign without it constantly beeping at you. I hate the beeps of their newer stuff, like when the door is open.

-Used to do the "Quick Lube" Job, had some guys with the big diesels. Guys were always talking about how they had to take the trucks in to the dealer and the big shit that went wrong with them. Guy said once they had the same part replaced 3 times under warranty, and it was getting ready to go back...for the same thing...a 4th time.

-The TSB list for 05+ Ford F150 Trucks, like 3 pages.

-The TSB list for 05+ Tacomas, like 1 page.

-The slight puzzlement that went on when I opened the hood of a 92 Mustang to find a 4 cyl motor, with 8 spark plugs. Really Ford?

-Oil filters are prone to leak on the Taurus b/c of improper maching of the seat.

-F Series #1 selling line of Trucks in America...My Ass. Not to hard when you can include a huge array of trucks, even the diesels, into one category and have the backing of commerical/work vehicle sales to add into that.

I really don't hate Fords. Am trading in a 2004 Ranger Supercab on my new 2011 Taco. Hopefully it will be here by Friday. I had the oil changed every 3000 miles and all the suggested maint done on it and the thing still crapped out on me at 56000. No hard driving, no mudding, and so on. I must have got the first engine that was built on Monday morning after a 2 day drunk!!!! Lost any confidence I had in Ford.
