Don't forget Atlanta also lost the Knights, the minor league farm team for the Tampa Bay Lightning.

Its a shame that the thrashers are moving, I dont get why most Americans dont like/watch hockey. Where I currently live there is zero hockey, they used to have the Boardwalk Bullies (ECHL) but they too moved.

We had the Knights for a long time in Atlanta though. I used to watch the games as a kid a lot.

The South just isn't a big hockey place. I played Hockey growing up (age 8-16), first roller, then Ice. People always looked at me funny when I told them I played hockey here in GA.

Another issue was that Thrashers games were damn expensive. I usually went to a few games a year. But a decent ticket was $60+ and a nosebleed section seat was $25+. Not to mention parking was $10-20. Sometimes they ran specials but it was expensive for the average family to go.

yeah the tickets arent cheap, but will be more in Winnipeg, if people from the ATL area cant afford them then imagine how Winnipegians will do.

i also found that the travel part was horrible down there. the traffic sucks. if you work in the city but live in say buckhead or duluth, then you have to leave work at 5, fight traffic for an hour to get home at 6, pick up the wife and or kid, no time to eat because the games start at 7 on weekdays, fight the traffic back at least an hour, and your late for the game . if they started at 730 people would bitch its over too late, the traffic things was a huge downfall there in Atl, its so bad that the players went to their morning skate at Philips, then had to stay in hotels downtown to be sure they would make the game, the team didnt want anyone traveling in at gametime.

Yep that's the truth. Heading downtown between 5-7PM is a nightmare.

Not to mention most of the population lives outside the perimeter anyways so its a 40+ minute haul down there with no traffic.

The Gwinett gladiators have a pretty solid team from what I hear...but they play in Gwinett and I HATE driving to gwinett. It's worse than driving downtown. Not to mention you run the risk of being robbed by some 15 year old Vietnamese wannabe gangster in Gwinett.

News flash , $60 for a lower bowl NHL ticket is beyond cheap , it's free .

Lowers are about $150 here and we've had 350+ consecutive sell outs

That isn't lower bowl. Lower bowl is $100+

There are 3 different general seating sections (minus boxes) at Phillips Arena.
