Remember...CAB is just the acronym for CPR. We as providers still use ABC for patient assessment and treatment

From what a medic teacher has told me in my prep class was the AHA made it CAB to emphasize the importance of compressions to a normal person just trained in CPR. For a person who only knows cpr in the field has in the past been emphasizing the airway and checking if they are breathing leaving valuable time for compression hanging.

For an experienced EMT/Medic in the field ABC still goes because in reality how long does it take us to determine that someone is in arrest? 3-5 seconds? and then we start compressions.

Just my 2cents. On a test it is still CAB.

8 y/o. Yup. Not too bad, just got'er done. Thankfully she was a decent amount older than my kid to have a resemblance. It's those calls that I'm dreading now that I'm a Pops. But as I always say, I'm there to make things better or at least make them not get any worse. Worked for me thus far. :)

Went to a wreck a couple weeks ago and the impact against a tree was so hard the car split in two pieces. They were 96 feet apart. Driver was ejected. still alive though.

ABC's. Always BLS before ALS. No need to use a bunch of stuff if BLS will save you. Take a deep breath before you start each one. Run it in your head quickly then do it. ASK QUESTIONS. More questions you ask the easier it will be because you will get more information.

Get enrolled in a NREMT course and go for it. Which now, will be advanced EMT. Then get some experience in the field and enroll in a NR paramedic course.
