Never trade is a used car on a new car. Take the time and put the effort into selling the car. Then work a killer deal on a new car. Remember when buying a new car you are the one with the money, not the dealer.

 

... dealer sure wants your money, and as much as possible!

 

Correct and there are a lot of nearby dealers for the same car. However over the last 25 years I have noticed that dealer transfer of cars between dealers is becoming less common.

I love the internet and buying a car. Hard to do apples to apples comparisons between different dealers of the same manufacture but it is possible. Always have financing lined up prior to going into the dealer. For the last three purchased vehicles the dealer beat my pre approved financing.

The Toyota Tacoma I was going to pay cash but the dealer sold me financing at 0.9%. Too good not to take. The money in the brokerage earned a lot more than that.

 

That's one of the drawbacks up here. The Toyota dealer is the only one in the state. I walked out on them and bought my truck used 3 yrs old w/ 23K on the odometer. The dealer really pissed me off; they were arrogant. "If you don't want to pay Sticker Price on the truck, someone will next week." That's pretty much a direct quote.

 

I had posted this when I was looking at a new Tacoma. Something like $186.00 off sticker; no trade and a cash deal!
They got NOTHING!!!!
Thank goodness a dealer didn't have the used one I bought!
With 2,027 mi. on it, they would have probably wanted 2-3k more than I paid for it.

 

I guess they do sort of have you by the short hairs. Sometimes I go around with binders on and think everywhere is the same as the DC area. Drive 45 minutes and there are probably 5 Toyota dealerships.

Low key celebration at home with my wife. Both of our moms passed on a few years back.

Hope the weather is great and you can at least get in a small ride to lift your spirit up some. I always enjoyed the back roads with no traffic.
