Im thinking of modding my exhaust and cutting a port behind the rear wheel in the fender.. Id like to get a chrome insert pretty flush with the body and have the exhaust port there... anyone ever seen a mod like this?
    pros vs cons??

i've been leaning heavily towards that exact thing. i have my exhaust cut before the rear axle because i kept pinching and hitting it offroad, but it's not technically legal for inspections in virginia. i'll be painting it black though.

if you're doing it for function, have at it, race trucks do it to keep their exhaust safe, and it works. if you're doing itfor looks, don't. you get all the black stuff fromt he exhaust all over the body panel where it lets out, and it'll be difficult to mount it completely flush. you'd probably have to bend that mounting plate to match the body panel, in which case you'll probably mess with the chrome

There is a guy on here that did it. I have seen the truck in person and all the black soot from the exhaust gets on the body panels.

To me, I say do it but have those two pipes come out about 2" so the hot exhaust doesn't flow up the panel 100% like it would if those pipes stay recessed into the oval. I have mine up close to the body and I can see the hot vapor floating up the paint at idle as it is and I kinda wonder about the long term consequences of it but I equate it in my mind to the sun raying down on it.

I think it would look pretty sweet. out the side of the bed after the doors but before the rear tire.
