I have quite a bit of time. I think ill take that route. Wheres a good place to stay along that route btw? I need to be in Reno on Thursday.

I edited my last post to show a second route that has your first night near Provo, 2nd night in Reno.

 

If you get a late start on Wed after flying out, and end up going I25 to I70, there are a number of little motels at Salina UT where US 50 jumps off of I70.

 

One other thing - not a lot of gas stations on US50, so gas up when you can, don't assume there'll be a gas station in the next little town.


You can gas in Salina, Delta, Ely, Eureka, Austin, Fallon.

 

Now that has me worried. Im driving a supercharged V8, not a Prius haha. Will I be able to make it? And also, how is police enforcement along 50?

No reason for worry, just don't be stupid about driving past gas stations when you're at a half tank or less. The furthest gas stations are a little more than 100 miles apart.

Like I said earlier - you don't want to be speeding through the small towns. A buddy of mine used to like to write "reckless driving" tickets for folks that would blow through towns going 55 when it was posted for 25. But aside from that - just as with anywhere else - there's no substitute for keeping your eyes open and letting off a bit before coming to blind curves or cresting hilltops - as much for potential hazards as anything else.

 

That goddamn sig, i think we are pushin hours of lost time with that thing.

 

Sorry I don't have any recommendations for places to stop/pee/sleep/etc but I do recommend skipping the burnouts... 40-80mph blasts are much more fun, plus your very excellent friend won't be pissed about shredded tires and speckled rear fenders.

 

If you DO happen to decide to come the I-80 route; you can crash in my house in Laramie, WY for a night if you need to.

 

IMO it doesn't matter where you drive it. lol you're driving the most epic Corvette ever built! (factory anyway). lol

 

Thanks Pyro, as of now it looks like I'll be trying to crash in Spanish Fork, then drive to my cousins in Reno on Thursday. This trip is going to be insane.

 

Update, Ill be staying in Provo the first night. And also, I can carry on a V1 radar detector and GPS onto a plane right?

 

I believe you can carry those items on...just have to send them through the scanner like a laptop. Also, enjoy Provo....average age - 70! Unless you get around BYU then that is a whole different hurdle to conquer!

Ill be staying across the street from BYU in Provo. If anyone is along the way Im sure a quick ride could be arranged.

 

Just making sure that I can carry on a radar detector and gps on the plane in a carry on bag, right?
