    Santa Monica is incredibly expensive.

This state sucks. Especially near LA. Too crowded, rude ass people, expensive as hell. The politics here can kiss my ass too. I know the appeal of the nice weather and sandy beaches is nice and all, but REALLY think about it. Houses are expensive as hell, and jobs arent looking good right now either. Please look into all your choices before moving here, I dont want you regreting your decision. If my wife was willing and her family wasnt here, I would be GONE!! Best of luck. Hope it works out.

I just moved here to Grand Terrace, CA, a little hill town east of LA. Its a very nice community away from LA(about 40miles) traffic into LA sucks on the 91 but i travel at odd times not rush hour so its not too bad IMO. Not too smoggy as there is always a breeze on this hill. Houses are the cheapest here they will ever be. It gets hot but it doesnt get cold as it was 78 and sunny yesterday. Where i am its an hour to the beach, west and an hour to the most awesome offroading destinations (mild or wild) to the north.

I like norcal also. Don't care much for the bay area except for the weather. LA is just too big and too crowded. I live in roseville. Near sac. Its very nice. Tahoe is way close. Lots of camping and outdoor activities. Lots of stuff to do an all the shopping you can handle. Just be forewarned if the yahoos here elect Gavin Newsom for govenor its going to be a really crappy state to live in. He's the one whos banning plastic bags and adding big soda taxes in SF. The smog laws here are retarded.

I dont want to live in a big city like LA. I live in the suburbs here and commute to chicago daily, it sucks. And we have a plastic bottled water tax here... i am used to stupid taxes and other dumb laws. at least in cali i would get nice weather compared to chicago.

Dont come to LA, we dont need more cars on the road. LOL jk everyone.
Its actually not as bad as everyone thinks. Sure traffic sucks, houses are expensive.
Just a different lifestyle i guess. I grew up in NorCal and I do not see myself ever living there again.
