Ok, I just finished reading like 6 articles regarding Amazon.com and their battle with Ca. over sales tex, and i'm still confused as to what the hell is going on. Here's what I gathered:
.Amazon doesn't have physical presence in Ca., which by Federal Law means they don't have to pay Ca. sales tax.
.Business are pissed that they can't compete
.Ca lawmakers find a way to force Amazon to collect taxes, and Amazon refuses.
Can someone explain to me wtf is going in simple terms?
Also, about the most recent news regarding some politicians making an "urgency" claim so that voters are not allowed to have a say in the matter, or something along those lines. Thanks.

California just wants there F*&^ing money and so do the businesses but I say screw them cause I love my AMAZON and even if the business prices came down I would still buy from AMAZON. They always have what I need and its free shipping. SO I dont half to drive all over town looking for it. I hope AMAZON wins.:D

1:When you order something online from another state the company does not charge you sales tax, but by law you are supposed to pay it (VERY VERY few people do) Because of this the state feels they are losing out on income.
2:If any stores actually are complaining (which I doubt) the tax is not the problem for them. Amazon beats most stores prices by 5-30% on average with the only drawback being you have to wait for an item. Stores can't compete because they need to pay employees, utilities, etc.
3: If California makes a law forcing amazon and other online retailers to pay tax it will become just like buying a firearm in California. A lot of retailers will choose to just not do business because of the hassle involved.
4: They know if voters have a say they will not let it pass. Who would be willing to give money to people who have proven themselves to be incompetent with it?
