A minute is a very long time in earthquake time.

I always think it's weird when people haven't felt an earthquake before, or they freak out when they feel one since we get them so often

then I realize I've never seen an actual tornado beside a waterspout

I do not understand why people live in tornado or hurricane country. I mean, you know the are coming, every year. Sure you can "prepare," but you can't build your own seawall. But I guess you could live in a surplus subterranean missile silo in Kansas. As nice as that sounds. Like a grave.

I've always wondered how in the hell people can live in areas affected by earthquakes. I've been in Iowa for 34 years and I've never seen a tornado, yet we get something like 100 of them every year. They impact such a small area compared to earthquakes, that i'll live in tornado alley long before I live in an area affected by earthquakes.

I felt an earthquake once and just assumed my neighbor had gained a significant amount of weight and was falling down.

Tornadoes aren't too bad. The key is to make your home at the top of a hill because it has to destroy your neighbors stuff and lose momentum before it gets to you. Hail is worse than tornadoes, in my opinion.

How much snow is on the ground there right now? I was in shorts this weekend.
I just assumed that with tornado country comes Hail of Destruction.

So if you put your house on top of the hill, that makes it easier for the lighting to find, right?

I guess there really is no reason to ever want to live in the fly over states... other than farming.

Unless you like peace and quiet, contrails, filing claims for hail damage to your truck, and the occasional 2x4 flying like a missile through your living room window.
