I occasionally grow a beard, perhaps once a year. I have been growing a full beard the last month, and shave it about two inches under the chin line. Now my beard is full, but only probably 1/2 an inch. Lately I have been getting a lot of static from people, especially women in their late 30s to mid 50s about my beard.

When are you going to shave?

OMG, You look like grizzly adams!

Hey get a vest and you'll look like forest gump!

People stopped making fun of me when I hit 6'3 200lbs in 9th grade, however, whenever I grow a beard, it seems like women come out of the wood work to take their best shot at me.

What gives? Do you think this Is this a local or age-related phenomenon? I noticed that on my trip to Stanley, ID this summer everyone was sporting a beard, many which were completely un-kept, and nobody seemed to care.

Background: I am 30 and live in socal.

I think some dudes are offended because they are little hipster tools that can't grow a full beard.

Ask the smartass women to see if they are sporting a beard or not. :D What's it to them anyway? Man rule violation for another dude to even give a shit.

I wish I could let my beard grow out! Mine fills in nice and full but I have like red patches scattered throughout and it looks like hell with it thickens up.

They're just jealouse that they have to shave their beards before their husbands and boyfriends notice. I grow a beard every so often but I have to shave cause I'm in the military. Consider yourself lucky, I can't go to work like that.

The real question is why do you give a shit?

Next time some broad gives you crap about your face hair just haul back and punch her in the cooter. That'll teach her to be an judgemental bitch.*

You may fit the age and gender categories but I think it's safe to say that's where the similarities end when compared to the women giving the OP a hard time. The women on this site seem to be much more laid back and just cool. Good point on the pic request, we'll be the judge of the acceptability of your facial growth

I've got one going right now, but it's nothing like whip's.

Mine does well until it starts getting long...then I just look like I have mange. I generally keep the "scruffy" look going, but keep it trimmed.

For Movember, I will either grow just a mustache or do the "No Shave November" type thing. We'll see.

I grow a beard each fall during hunting season. I get some flak from people, but at the same time, I swear this is when I get the most attention from women. :)

Very true. Mine also itches like a mother until it's been there for a few weeks. It's driving me nuts right now.

I've had a beard for at least 8 years now. I trim it when I buzz my head. No clip on the buzzer and do head and face. I save crazy money on razors now. Lol. My shit is always neatly groomed. I just trim my neck. I never get shit but than again people know I don't give a shit what they think. My wife loves it and that's all that matters

Must be a SOCAL thing, plenty of people with beards around here, including myself. I tend to get compliments from people on my beard.

I always stop shaving about this time every year. Keeps my face nice and warm during huntin season. I started a little late this year, but it's gettin there. I probably won't shave it til January. I trim it every once in a while. Not much though. My girlfriend hates it. Most of the girls have somethin to say about it, actually. I don't really care though. It's gone for like 9 months out of the year...I only keep it for about 3 months.
