i agree, with alot of money. with half the money the jeep can be MUCH more capable off road and the on road ride quality isn't that bad after upgraded shocks and springs, especially with a hard top. the soft top are LOUD but soo fun in the summer. :D

Hey now calm down fellas, I am a Jeep owner and have never understood any of those alleged Jeep things other than the wave which I par-take in when driving mine.
I love my Jeep for wheeling and hunting with, I dont have to worry about scratching and banging it up a bit. Plus it is a blast to drive around with no top on a nice warm day in summer or fall.
As far as daily driving and being reliable, I daily drove my Jeep for 3 years before the Taco and have to say I dont think I could ever go back to that! For one I had to work on it every other weekend it seemed, it rode like a grain truck, got awful mileage cuz of the low gearing, wintertime the heater could not even keep the windows defrosted for very long and the fog from me breathing would freeze on the inside of all the windows! Really convieniant to sit at a stop sign scraping off the inside of the windows so I could see what was coming! It is not comfortable on long rides (CJ5) and you feel like a board when you get out, it is noisy on the highway even with a hardtop, but the top does help. I have to say it sucked in snow because of the short wheelbase and narrow track, plus light weight, but was great off road.
I agree with all of you though on one thing, the Get er wet and all that stuff is taking it a little too far!

And one from a couple summers ago, exploring old logging roads in the Belts with my dogs, sadly this Jeep will be getting sold soon.

haha this is soo true. lol i had a '98 cherokee and i still had to scrape ice off the inside of the windshield. it was alot of fun but i like the comfort of my truck. i never got the cherokee stuck in snow, but also never got the truck stuck in snow, and i've tried. :D

nice jeep, btw. i miss my jeep but i'll always have my truck.
    haha

Now I love my Tacoma, but our CJ kicks its ass up and down the block.

Then again, my Tacoma is 2WD with big tires, and the Jeep is an armored 4x4 with 35's and a SFA... :D

Can't really compare our 85 Yota 4x4 to it either...

But if I'd have to guess, If one were to jack up our pickup a few inches, gusset the axles, add some skids, an AP Hy-Steer kit, maybe some beefier tires, you'd have an equally capable if not MORE capable rig.

    With a bed why not!

So I guess it really depends on your preference...

Heat is usually not an issue in any vehicle, even the '70s Beetles. Aren't there larger heater cores that could be swapped in?

I want to do this if I find a older Yota truck, preferably with a regular cab, but not my new Tacoma! lol I still love Jeeps though and am building up an older 57 Willys CJ5 (the reason my red Jeep is going bye-bye) they had much better parts and thicker steel back then and were built practically the same as the ones in the military at the time except with no machine gun bolted in the tub!

I just sold my JK Unlimited. They have great capabilities even when it was stock. Sold it due to gas mileage and wasn't a great commuter. I do love wheelin in the Tacoma it is extremely capable and plush. The Tacoma is def a multipurpose and extremely capable wheeler but miss the departure angles of the JK

    I did NOT have stickers.

I had an 02 rubicon with a teraflex lift for a few years they are a great extra car my Tacoma is lifted with 33"s the wrangler still ran circles around it off road but was a terrible on road family car. That 4.0 straight six was badass for low end power situation.

My parents had a lot of jeeps when I was growing up.. We use to go to Pismo beach a lot and they'd go run around.. I think we had an old willys.. and one that had the shovel and crap on the side of it.
I just remember sitting behind the wheel and playing with the "noid" that my parents stuck on the back of it...
anyone remember the dominos noid? hah

They loved their jeeps.. even the one my mom blew up hah but they did have to work on them every week

Eibach height adjust shocks in front, KYB monomax shocks in the back. Stock springs front and back. Level 8 MK6 10mm offset wheels on Cooper ATP tires (stock size)
You made that thing undependable, huge ass tires with miles of body lift and yet is still SUA, stock axles, I assume stock 304 or 258. Poop metal front bumper and offroad lights on the front fenders lol

I feel very sorry for that jeep instead of a classic, its a jeep version of a ricer.

My wife actually uses the Jeep for her daily driver. Granted it's not the most fuel efficient, or even most comfortable, but she loves it and right now doesn't want to drive anything else. We've driven it from Texas to Ohio and it wasn't too bad of a ride. A lot better than the old 2dr jeeps.

I did the Jeep thing for 3 years, cant say I didnt like it!
Offroad it was unstoppable, insanely capable when you set it up right.
I ended up trading it in on my Tacoma though due to it just not being practical enough as daily driver.
I want to do another offroad project soon, and I cant decide, do another Jeep, or SAS a Tacoma with a flatbed and exo-cage.
I do however consider the Toyotas a much more reliable vehicle. I had a 93 pickup for 8 years before the Jeep.
