I only started smoking cigarettes because I can't smoke what I really want to legally. That is all.

    CHALLENGE...to all you smokers.

You know it's a bad habit.
You know it's a bad thing for your health.
You know there are bad consequences down the road.
You know it's a drain on money you could better spend on other things.

There is NOT ONE positive thing about smoking!

Man up...(I know it's not easy)...and prove that you are tougher than the habit/addiction. Quit...cold turkey! Give yourself a few weeks...and you'll be over it. You'll thank yourself in 20-30 years when you're still healthy and your smoking friends are experiencing a degraded quality of life.

My wife (nurse to be) says the hospitals are full of smokers, lying in bed, with smoking-related illnesses.

I genuinely believe that some people just like it...because I myself enjoy a dip, and I can go a month or two without one...but sometimes I just want one...I dont ever crave it or get pissy if i dont have a dip. I guess you can say randomly wanting one is like a craving...but you get my point. Its not the tobacco im addicted to. Its the act itself that I enjoy.

Just like some people chew gum, or sunflower seeds (what I am trying to do more now) ill throw a dip in.

Now I will admit that my senior year in highschool my group of friends would smoke hookah just about every day, atleast once sometimes twice a day....

Between the 6 of us I think we had like 9 hookahs ahaha.

I smoke. I'm going to continue to smoke. We're all gonna die someday anyways. I get one go around, I'm gonna do pretty much what I want without crossing lines (most of the time) and getting into legal hotwater.

The way I look at it (and the way it is)...everyone has something, some vice, that they needlessly waste money on or have an addiction to. Most of the time, the 2 go together, spend $$ on your addiction.

Sure you've got the typical "bad for you' stuff. Tobacco, beer, drugs, etc. But look around. Maybe you drink coffee all day long. Hell, even this place, people are addicted to modding their trucks (and spend TONS of money to do so). Do you watch way to much TV maybe? Do you like to eat to much food? Do you spend countless hours playing video games? Maybe you have like 6 pets. Maybe you chew the crap outta gum. You a gambler? Watch a little to much porn? I would even say babies are addicted to pacifiers. Anyone can be addicted to anything and everyone is, you just might not think about it that way b/c society hasn't made it taboo...yet.

    Don't fret, it's human nature.

Enjoy your addiction, just don't be like a huge criminal or anything.

On another note. I love the "chew" crowd as well. Buncha dopes with blinders on. Can't tell you how many times I've had someone who chews give me shit about smoking. FUCKIN' REALLY? Read the side of your can there ya' redneck, "not a substitute for cigarettes". Chew is nasty, it tastes nasty, they always have a can of nasty ass spit that is a threat to be drank by an unsuspector. Little chunks of chew stuck in the teeth. Spit in trash cans that others have to touch, spit on nets that others have to touch...Nasty, Nasty, Nasty. At least I'm not eating holes in my face. Wake the fuck up chewers, you are no better than the common smoker. Seems like those who chew are some of the hardest raggers of smokers as well...I.D.I.O.T.S.

I agree with pretty much all of what you say...but all those other things, in moderation (even alcohol) are not detrimental to your health. There is NO amount of cig smoke that is beneficial or not harmful. Plus, the cost for medial care for smoking induced illnesses is a totally unnecessary, and mind-boggling, amount that is passed on to everybody that pays for medical services. In that regard alone I say, besides second hand smoke, that is the primary reason to make smoking go away.

I just like smoking. Started smoking shisha in high school. Was never about the nicotine but in college I picked up smoking when I was drunk with friends and then it took hold when I was sober.

I used to smake and I really really enjoyed a fresh Winston. The wife and I both quit, me because my company went to a non-smoking facility and my wife because I did I guess. Smokers don't bother me as long as they are considerate. What bugs me the most is that the media, govt, health officials act like smoking is the equavilent of being the anti-christ and drinking is glorified, on tv, nascar, commercials, stores,,etc...
