A buddy and I did a road trip from Central Alberta, Canada - to Vegas (and back) in Dec of 2008. It was easily the best road trip we ever did. Took us just over a day and a half to get there. And some amazing scenery the whole way (accept for Southern Alberta, and Northern Montana - FLAAAAAAAAAAT!!!) I'd do that road trip again in a heartbeat!!

Tacoma is stock and staying that way, Pickup is TBA as of now.
I would normally never say this, but save the money and fly. Vegas is not what it used to be since the recession started, I have been there twice since 2008 and the only lively part of the whole city is the Strip, nothing else. Empty apartment and condo complexes sit everywhere, dozens upon dozens of brand new houses built that sit empty, several store fronts are boarded up. Stalled construction projects are still in the same positions as they were in 08, poverty level has increased. Gang and drug violence is getting extreme there also since California is cracking down big time on the gangs in LA so guess where they are migrating to? Only thing keeping Vegas above water is the tourist money it brings in along with all the gambling money, thats not the worst of it though, Lake Mead is slowly going dry so they got an even bigger problem on their hands but seem to be ignoring it.
With that all aside, I hope you enjoy your trip to the Sin City wheater you choose to fly or drive!

The drive on I70 until Denver is pretty damn boring. I always thought driving I57 through southern Illinois was bad until I drove from Atlanta to Denver. Once you get out of Kentucky it's pretty damn boring. Seriously, you will get really excited when you start to see the huge windmills in Kansas because that's all there is to see...literally. You probably won't even see any cattle.

If I were to do it again, I would probably take I40 or maybe go I20 and take the southern route out west.

I'd fly if I were you. A lot less hassle that way.

Parking is pretty easy to find in Vegas, it's free at every other casino. You should be drunk most of the time you're in Vegas... park it and forget it until you need to leave.

    I would fly.

I drove 1100 miles one way for a vacation and don't know if I would do it again. I took two days to do it, and still don't feel like that was enough time to stop and check things out along the way.

There is plenty to do in Vegas. Get there fast on the company's dime and enjoy yourself.
