New way theives are breaking into cars

So i heard from a friend that a buddy of his truck was broken into. The cops told him there is no evidence of forced entry but there is a new device "code grabber" which is what was most likely used to break into his car. The police officer told him that a thief uses this "code grabber" when ever people use a remote to lock the door of their car, the code grabber intercepts the code and that way the thief can easily unlock the vehicle.

Has anybody else heard of this?
I wonder if after market alarms will stop this "code grabber"?

 

Yeh it's been used for a long time already! They even use it on people's garage door openers to get in when owners leave

 

pretty sure the python 991 I just had installed changes the code everytime so thieves cant use this on it. I think it's called rolling codes or something?

 

Garage door openers are way beyond this with 'rolling code' technology.

 

it been around for a long time hell you used to be able to get one for Jailbroke Iphones.

and it will disarm your alarm if it arms and disarms with the same code that locks and unlocks your car door

 

Just letting the op know that this is old stuff, that is why they have rolling codes from this type of devises

In military communication it's called frequency hopping. They've been using that for about 30 years now.
