My neighbor just informed me that there have been two guys that have been coming to my house while no one is home and checking it out.

They came for the first time a few months ago, once during Christmas, and once yesterday. Apperntly she didnt find it suspicious until they showed up three times and she actually heard one of them on the phone saying 'we cant get in, they have a dog'. They actually came up to her yesterday and asked if she lived alone and if anyone lives in my house. Im a little upset I am just finding out about this just now but at least I know.

They have shown up in a white truck and a white van.

I have a Pit but I usually have him in his kennel and my driveway has a gate but it is always open since one of the wheels have not been working. So I am thinking of just fixing the gate and keeping it closed at all times, and letting my Pit roam around. I am going to move my Supra to the front Driveway to make it look like someone is home but I'm certain they have seen it in the backyard by now and know it doesn't run. I am also going to contact the Sherrif's once I talk to my neighbor in person and get all of the details. (She just texted me all this) I was also considering just putting up mock securtiy cameras but I dont know if that will actually motivate someone even more to break in since that might indicate I have something of value that I want protected.

I figure that they are pretty far in their plan if this is their third visit in the past few months, do you guys think all these precautions will be enough to deter them? Any other advise? Thanks in advance.

yikes..that's scary. I have a security camera thats always on and connected to my computer in my bedroom. I have it out the window on the second story. May want to invest in a real camera. You can get a USB camera pretty cheap if you have a spare computer to hook it to

See if you can get ahold of those "This Home Protected by ADT" stickers for the window. If they pick up that it's a new sticker, they might wonder if you had a system installed and hopefully be enough to deter them.

well you may not like my idea but it involves you burning a sick/vacation day and loaded guns. put two and two together and let one come inside. at least i know that would work in AL we have the "castle law" here dont know about you guys though.

Make sure the computer is where it can not be seen, otherwise they will steel the computer and your recorded video is useless.

Get some camera and get them on video; also inform the PD. Same thing chapped to us 10 years ago and we ended up getting home invated by 5 armed men's. Also it's very possible its an inside job if they came back that many times.

how far away from home do you work?

can you start showing up at random times during the day to throw them off? Can you get home fast enough if the neighbor were to call you when she see's them? Also for her safety, have her call the cops the next time she see's them at your house.

I don't think that would work in Cali.

I like the idea of fixing the gate and letting the dog roam. But I would get some cameras as well.

I wouldn't hesitate to let my dog run loose in the house if this were the case. It would be a cold day in hell that anyone would take my dog from me if he/she protected me or my property.

I would fix the gate and let your dog be outside a little. get the camera and then have a meeting with your neighbors. tell them what is going on. It sounds like you already have one neighbor looking out for you.
