My wife is in nursing School at UWG and has to make a web page for communications class. I am wondering if anyone can give pointers or some help in making one as we have never made one. Any help or advise is greatly appreciated.

    What exactly are you needing?

I took a few web design classes in high school so I could get a bright futures scholarship, but I'm no pro...

Where is the page being hosted? Is the school providing the server space? As for the video, the easiest way to add one to a site is to upload it to YouTube, then YouTube will provide you the code to display the video on the web page.

Beyond that ... simple does it. Header at the top (this is the graphic banner across the top of the site just like TW does) and menu bar just after that. Do a "fixed width" site. This is a site that is the same pixel width regarless of monitor resolution. 960 pixels wide is PERFECT for computers, iPads, iPhones, Androids, etc. On higher resolution monitors, there will be space to the left & right of the site (you can choose a background color or image for this which will make the page stand out more).

TW on the other hand is called a "full width" site .. edge to edge for EVERYONE. This works great for forums & discussion boards, but not necessarily for sites that prefer to maintain a consistent look across all monitors & devices. Here's a good example of a fixed width site that I did for my friend's new venture ... http://brewerytourscolorado.com. National sites that are fixed width include www.cnn.com (the header looks full width, but it's not .. they just extend the color left and right) and www.yahoo.com.

Unless you are familiar with HTML code, use a web design program to help you. I took some web design courses years ago and back then Dreamweaver was the best and easiest program to use. Not sure if its still around..
