That's probably the only thing I miss about being a teenage. Zero responsibilities, but I never complained about my parents or chores. I actually looked for firewood to chop. haha

Lot of teenagers replying to his video. At first, I thought it was going to be negative but there's a lot of positive reaction.

idk what else is going on at that household that ever let things get to where they did. Hopefully (and as a family), they can work on making it better. But good on pops for putting an end to it.

It's not about "letting things get were they did", he sounds like he set up a perfectly good structure and she's just a brat, it happens.

Kids now days think they got it hard, they don't know what hard is. Amen to this dad, I would do the same thing to my 16 year old if she ever did something like that to me behind my back

The reason I was raised the way I was is because my dad is an Air Force brat. His dad was a real douche and he had it very hard growing up as a child. He told me and my brother that he didn't want us to grow up the way he did so he was pretty lenient with us but we knew better than to be brats. I am very thankful he raised us the way he did.

If it was perfectly good, he wouldn't be blowing holes in her laptop ;)

Regardless, he alluded to a prior incident that he (admittedly) couldn't remember saying "if it happened again; things would be worse". So clearly, there were things that happened over time and allowed things to escalate (my "let things get to where they did" comment). Whether conscious or not, something got them to this place, right?

And though I'm not a parent, I am not naive enough to believe that she's a brat and that's just the way it is. Sure, it happens. It just means that as a parent, you have to be on top of that behavior all the time.

Pretty good way of teaching a lesson... I thought shooting the laptop on camera was a little close to being over the top, then again I'd be pissed too and need to vent.

The video I want to see is the daughter coming home to find her laptop with holes in it. Way to go to this guy.

props to the dad for being involved, and concerned how his daughter would publicly deride their family. i have said many times to friends and coworkers, "being a dad is the hardest thing i've ever done............" some of them laugh at me and say "what's so hard about it?" (generally their ex-wife have raised the kids) whilst others tell me their tales of their older teen kids now: graduated high school (barely), can't find a job (in part truthfully due to the economy), and now sit @home everyday polishing the furniture w/their backsides. just THIS morning my daughter stated that i had too many rules. in the end, wouldn't have destroyed the laptop as it can be invaluable for schoolwork, but would have certainly ended her facebook shenanigans. as an IT guy, he almost certainly would have known how to do, and monitor, such. just my 2cents;)
