electric impact wrench

anyone use one , think they would work as good as the air ones?. would it remove the hub bolt on the front of the 2nd gen 4x4x?

 

They are on sale at Wilco right now and I am tempted to buy one.

I saw a kid using one to take the lug nuts off his truck prior to junking it, but I doubt they were torqued. I think they work pretty well. I would buy a lithium battery for it if I bought one.

 

I got a Ryobi for Chrismas a couple years ago and that thing works like a champ. Removes my nutts with ease

 

The cordless ones have major torque. I totally doubted them when I saw them, but then I used one to install my entire lift kit. On one battery.

I had no issues getting nuts off.

 

Electric impact wrenches are great because of their portability. You don't need a big air compressor to run them, and you're not limited by the length of the air hose.

A have big air compressor so I don't have an electric one, but I would like to have one.

They're reliable, if you get a reliable brand.

 

What voltage?

I have a 14.4 volt Makita. Haven't used it much yet. I know they say the 18v will do lug nuts, not sure about the 14v. I need to try it one day. I do love my Makita though.

 

what amp/voltage is adequate? Im thinking of getting 1 but dont want to be disappointed and then cant return it. has anyone used it to remove the hub nut? thanks for the responses.

 

we have 28 volt makita's and milwakee's at my job there awesome. we have to use them because we cracking bolts with lead and asbestos on them and you cant use pnuematic air tools. it breaks loose equiptment thats been in rain for 30 years no problem.i know dewalt makes a great 1/2" drive that probably isnt that expensive, but i think you would be happy with a nice cordless 18v snap-on.my friends use on 1" flywheel nuts and prop nuts all day on outboards.good luck

 

I have uses dewalts corded not sure of size and was able to remove rear leafs and install my Dakar leaf pak

 

hey! my buddy bought a electic impact from harbor freight, to remove the hubs on his camry... worked out great for the price. cant beat the price of harbor freight tools... now... if it was something i was going to use all the time i wouldnt trust it.. but to remove the hubs once....

 

I paid about $30 for mine from Canadian Tire....works awesome for how cheap it is.

It will over torque lugs on my truck (80 lbs plus) and no issues at all breaking torque on wheel nuts

 

I have the dewalt 18v..takes lug nuts off no problems.

 

18v and your good to go!

 

The ones with enough power to be compared to air impacts cost so much you could nearly buy a whole air compressor and air impact, a much more versatile setup plus air impacts are much smaller and lighter.

What do you want out of the tool?

 

I had an 18v Makita, and it took my lug nuts off. But, it didn't budge my rear diff fill cap.
